Short Artist Bio:
Raven Creature has been drawing since she could hold a pencil, has completed two degrees, and is now pursuing her BFA at the Academy of Art University. She moved to New Orleans in 2002, quit her day job March 2010, and has since been selling art in Jackson Square, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She has shown in galleries in New Orleans and California since 2003, and is one of the artists in the Great Artists' Collective on Royal Street in the Quarter.
Her figurative and abstracted paintings have evolved into a unique surrealist style. Her artistic goal is to bring the ideas, textures, light and shadow she sees into a beautiful (and terrible, sometimes) melding of faces, eyes, and what she calls Landscapes, which are shapes resembling figures, buildings, trees, eyeballs, and her "creatures". Raven feels her artistic talent comes from within, a place accessible to her only in the late night hours, when the paint shapes the canvas into entities captured in canvas. She says that, "the paintbrush is a vehicle in which other worlds flow through my hands, and even I am surprised by what comes of this possession."
Raven prefers working in oil paint, but also utilizes acrylic, ink, charcoal, graphite, pastels, and found objects including bones and rusted metal. She does amazing portraiture, and is available for commissions.
